Stambaugh, Rothman: Grant Will Accelerate Perry County Fairgrounds Improvements

HARRISBURG – A $1.265 million Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) grant awarded to the Perry County Economic Development Authority will allow improvements at the Perry County Fairgrounds to begin, state Sen. Greg Rothman (R-Cumberland/Dauphin/Perry) and state Rep. Perry Stambaugh (R-Perry/Juniata) announced.

“The Perry County Community Fair is a cornerstone of our region and a major contributor to our local economy,” Rothman said. “This state funding, and the renovations it makes possible, will enhance the fairgrounds for many years to come. I want to thank the Perry County commissioners for their hard work and partnership in helping to secure this grant.”

As outlined, the grant will fund construction of a lobby entrance, conference room, event space and commercial kitchen at the existing steel-barn youth/commercial structure on the fairgrounds known as Building #6. Planned work also includes installing air-conditioned restrooms, year-round HVAC equipment, and new electrical service and LED lighting.  

“The upgrades to Building #6 will deliver long-term benefits by letting county farm organizations, community groups, and residents use the fairgrounds property year-round,” Stambaugh noted. “Best of all, it’s just one part of a significant overhaul planned for the fairgrounds that will help the Perry County Fair Board advance economic development opportunities and youth development.”

RACP grants support the design, acquisition, and enhancement of regional, economic, cultural, civic, recreational, and historical assets. They are administered by the Pennsylvania Office of the Budget.
