January 20, 2026
HARRISBURG – Rep. Perry Stambaugh (R-Perry/Juniata) announced more than $773,000 in state Small Water and Sewer Program grants to assist initiatives across the 86th State House District.
“Investing in these critical infrastructure systems will protect public health and strengthen the resilience of our local communities,” Stambaugh said.
Projects funded include:
Duncannon Borough: $125,000 to replace 1,050 linear feet of aged asbestos cement and cast-iron water main with new pipe.
Mifflintown Municipal Authority: $423,469 for upgrades to the Clearview Dam, including resealing concrete joints, patching concrete surfaces, filling a void that formed in the slab, resetting and securing rip-rap lining at the end of the spillway, and renovating pipe and valve systems inside the roundhouse.
New Buffalo Borough: $75,000 to install a grinding auger to remove solids and debris from wastewater, increasing overall system capacity while preventing effluent from being pumped back into the Susquehanna River, and adding a larger backup generator to enable full operation of the plant during a power outage.
Newport Borough Water Authority: $150,000 for replacing approximately 1,000 linear feet of water main along Walnut Street.
The grants are funded through the Small Water and Sewer Grant Program, which helps with the construction, improvement, expansion, or rehabilitation or repair of a water supply system, sanitary sewer system, storm sewer system or flood control projects.
