February 26, 2025

HARRISBURG – Sen. Judy Ward (R-30) and Reps. David Rowe (R-85) and Perry Stambaugh (R-86) announced the approval of Multimodal Transportation Fund grants for three key infrastructure projects in Juniata County. These grants, awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, will improve road safety and connectivity, while supporting economic growth in the region.

“I am proud to support these investments that will improve the safety and reliability of our transportation networks,” said Ward. “These projects are vital to our communities’ infrastructure and will have a positive impact on local residents and businesses.”

Susquehanna Township was awarded $350,000 for a project that focuses on roadway paving and repairs on Old Trail Road, enhancing road safety and infrastructure.

“This grant will assist Susquehanna Township in beginning the process of reconstructing Old Trail Road, which has become so damaged that serious safety issues have arisen,” said Stambaugh. “The road serves as a major link for passenger vehicles, Amish buggies, and large trucks from local businesses accessing PA Route 104 and U.S. Routes 11/15.”

Fayette Township was awarded $800,000 for the construction of a new connector road, enhancing transportation safety and accessibility.

“Obtaining this grant for Fayette Township will benefit all area residents and businesses and spur future economic growth for Juniata County,” said Rowe. “These funds will help upgrade our roads while also improving transportation options, making road conditions safer, and modernizing traffic efficiency all while saving local governments and taxpayers money.”

The grants were awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority through its Multimodal Transportation Fund, which supports projects that ensure a safe and reliable system of transportation for Pennsylvania residents.
